I have the same icon problem with Gnomebaker, Pidgin, Transmission and Notification settings.

I try with the networkconfig icon (which is the same as xnetconf), and it works.

You should go to init3, then reinstall the icon-themes package, then remove the
systemtools package, then install the latest version .

It should bring the icons back to a standard state :)
Done, but bug still here.
I've edited the xnetconf.desktop and change the xnetconf icon with netpkg icon, and magically, the shortcut appears in zenpanel.
Then I have re edited it to bring it back to the previous state, and it disappears.

I too have the icon problem in xfce-settings-show

The tongo switch did not work, i only have this icon in the hicolor
theme :-)
(Theme not selectable from user interface settings for some reason)
hicolor is an inclusion of Tango, so ... ;)

I see, this inclusion does not seem to work on my system, in my
.xsession-errors there are many reports of "error loading theme icon" for all
sorts of icons, all physically found under /usr/share/icons/hicolor

:P

The icon problem is strange, if the icon is there, in the theme, then
switching
to another theme, then back to Tango should work.

About the init 6 problem, you should help me if you want me to fix it,
because I
can't reproduce this problem here.

Try to remove parts of the rc.6 script until you find what's going
wrong.
The main path I think of right now is removing udev from shutdowned
services
(add it to the blacklist).

Thanks for your help

Does it hang with INIT saying that there are no processes left in
this
runlevel?

Hey,

I had the same problem on my laptop, but two other boxen
(updated
from 4.6beta1) updated fine. It might have been just a bad
package,
but I'm not sure. I'm updating right now and will see if the
latest
package fixes the problem.

Ok, guys,
Did I miss something in yesterday's mails? Where did the
network manager go in Zenpanel? After doing the netpkg
dotnew
last evening, replacing all the old /etc/rc.d files with all
those new bright shiny ones, my network did not come back up
this morning. Now normally I run to Zenpanel, because I
figure
the settings weren't preserved, to run Network Manager
module.
It's not there!

So, I now edit the rc.inet1.conf file, then start the
network
from the terminal. Seems like I remember a mention of
something about the network manager being moved or changed,
but
I must have failed to pay attention? This is with the last
updates from snapshot, 20070508.

Also, there doesn't seem to be an icon asssociated with
Notification Settings in the Xfce Settings Manager, but it
works.

Ok, follow up. I uninstalled the .9 build, tried the .8 build
with
the
same problems, then went back to the .7 build for systemtools.
The
.7
build does not have the xnetconf program, but does work to give
back
the Network Settings to Zenpanel. This works without problems
again,
so it seems xnetconf was introduced with the .8 build and that
is
where
the problems begin.
