Re: OpenOffice

Hi Pat.

No, OpenOffice 2.3 is no longer installed - it is just that the menu in Xfce still shows me both OO 2.3 and OO 2.4 menus. If I look in /var/log/packages I can only find openoffice-2.4.0... and if I look in /var/log/removed_packages I can find:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 314215 2008-01-21 18:29 openoffice-2.3.1-i586-50.1-upgraded-2008-05-02,18:02:37 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 316028 2008-05-02 18:14 openoffice-2.4.0-i586-52.1-upgraded-2008-05-02,18:15:41

I just tried both menu entries (for Calc, as an example) - in either case the system loads OO 2.4 ... it is just the menus that were never taken down ... maybe because they have a version-specific name ...

If it worked on your side, maybe my system just had a hick-up ... how do I manually remove the unwanted menu items in /xfce-menu/Office/ (opening the Xfce menu-editor doesn't give me direct access to the sub-menus).

Best regards,
Claus

Hi all.

Maybe an error in the openoffice install/upgrade script.

On 2. May I upgraded from openoffice-2.3.1-i586-50.1 to
openoffice-2.4.0-i586-52.1 and now I have a double set of menus in
the Xfce menu... Just FYI.

I didn't get that behavior when upgrading. It's almost as if it left 2.3 installed as well as installing 2.4 on the system? Did you check to see if you have 2.3 directories as well? Now the next question, did you use xnetpkg or netpkg to upgrade?

Pat
